Foo Fighters break out the hits for surprise gig at packed Dublin venue
The show at the Academy followed an even smaller gig, to around 80, at Dingle’s St James’ Church last night.

LESS THAN 36 hours after the gig was announced, US rockers Foo Fighters played to a packed out crowd at the Academy on Dublin’s Abbey Street tonight.
The show at the 800-odd capacity venue followed an even smaller gig, to around 80, at Dingle’s St James’ Church last night.
The veteran group, fronted by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, are also set to play intimate gigs in Manchester and London later this week as part of a warm-up for a major 2026 tour.
Fans of the band yesterday scrambled for tickets, which were made available on a first-come-first-served basis at Dame Street’s Olympia Theatre.

The group came on stage just a few minutes after the advertised time of 8.30pm and played a mix of hits, album tracks and new songs for a solid two-and-a-half hours, wrapping up just after 11.
Times Like These, The Pretender, All My Life, Best of You, This Is a Call, Big Me and Everlong were amongst the classics played.
Foo Fighters are due to embark on a multi-date European and US tour in the coming months – so far, no major Irish date has been confirmed.
They are due to release a new album, Your Favourite Toy, at the end of April – with Grohl promising the record will be full of “noisy bangers” that feel like they’re from “the old days”.
