Rainy weather in store this week to usher in back-to-school season

Temperatures are expected to stay mild to warm throughout the week.

THERE’S A FAIRLY rainy week ahead in a fitting shift in the weather as September nears and the back-to-school season is upon us.

Some schools have already started to reopen but most will be returning to class during the coming week.

Met Éireann expects Monday morning to be dry at first, with cloud increasing from the west, before rain develops in the west by early afternoon and spreads eastwards, turning heavy at times.

The rain should clear up on Monday evening but lead into a mix of sunshine and scattered showers, some of them heavy, on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s rain will turn persistent or heavy in most parts of the country come night time.

Wednesday is expected to start off clear but there’ll be a mix of sunny spells and showers later in the day, while Thursday will see heavy showers or longer spells of rain moving eastwards over the country.

“Friday and next weekend will continue unsettled with rain or showers at times,” the Met Éireann forecast says.

Temperatures are set to stay mild to warm throughout the week.

Met Éireann expects the highest temperatures of the week to be on Tuesday with 16 to 19 degrees Celsius, followed by lows of 11 to 14 degrees on Tuesday night.
