Four men arrested and weapons seized during nationwide operation against organised crime group

Garda searches were carried out at six locations across four separate counties this morning.

FOUR MEN WERE arrested and a number of weapons were seized as part of an investigation into organised crime following a major garda search operation this morning.

Searches were carried out by gardaí at six residential properties across four counties – Galway, Roscommon, Westmeath and Offaly.

Four men, aged in their 20s and 30s were arrested as part of the operation, and are currently detained at a Garda station in the North Western Region.

Two vehicles were seized, along with phones and weapons including a machete, knives, cattle prod and a taser.

The operation involved Gardaí from Galway, Westmeath and Offaly Divisions, supported by multiple Armed Support Units.

Gardaí believe the organised crime group is involved in “serious criminality”, including possession and discharge of firearms, drug dealing, drug intimidation, burglaries and serious assaults in Galway and neighbouring counties.

“Investigations are ongoing,” gardaí said in a statement.
