Here's what Twitter thinks of Frances Fitzgerald's appointment

Fitzgerald is taking over Alan Shatter’s Justice and Equality brief and people seem pretty happy about it.

IT’S THE STORY of the day – Frances Fitzgerald is the new Minister for Justice and Equality, taking over from Alan Shatter, who resigned yesterday.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny made the announcement in the Dáil today, appointing Charlie Flanagan in Fitzgerald’s place. Kenny will temporarily take over the Defence brief.

Fitzgerald’s Cabinet colleagues have obviously welcomed her appointment but we’ve had a look at what the rest of you are saying about it and here’s what we’ve found…

Some people were sad to see her leave her post as Minister for Children:

Others are looking forward to seeing how she handles her brief:

Some people are just happy she got the job because she’s a woman and we need more of them in politics:

Though the reaction was overwhelmingly positive on Twitter today, there were, of course, one or two begrudgers:
