Five arrested in car insurance fraud investigation

The arrests were made as part of the garda Operation Nascar investigation.

FIVE PEOPLE HAVE been arrested as part of a fraud investigation.

Gardaí arrested the five people this morning as part of Operation Nascar.

The arrests were made during an operation in Co Cork, involving members of the Organised Crime Unit and Fraud Investigation Unit attached to Angelsea St Garda station, along with local detectives.

Three men and two women, ranging in age from 20s to 40s, were arrested, gardaí said. They are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a number of stations in Co Cork.

Operation Nascar is centred around fraudulent motor insurance claims.

This brings to 17 the number of people arrested as part of this ongoing investigation.
