Freezing fog and ice to make driving conditions dangerous

Temperatures will reach as low as -5C over the next couple of nights, with motorists being warned of severe ground frost in some areas.

TEMPERATURES WILL DROP over the next number of nights, with freezing fog and ice making driving conditions dangerous, motorists have been warned.

Tonight will be very cold, with temperatures falling to between -1C and -5C, according to Met Éireann.

Motorists in the midlands, particularly, should vigilant about road conditions after predictions of very icy conditions and freezing fog tonight by IWO.ie.

Thursday morning will start out very frosty and later become dry with sunny spells; however temperatures will dip again in the evening with severe ground frost developing.

Frosty conditions in the evenings are expected continue throughout Friday – when the possibility of some snow has been raised – but temperatures will pick up again by the weekend, when daytime temperatures will range between 3C and 9C.
