€260,000 seized in crackdown on organised crime

Two cars and houses were searched as part of the investigation.

SOME €260,000 WAS seized in Dublin this weekend as part of an operation investigating organised crime.

The money was uncovered in two separate searches, €160,000 was found in two cars in the Blanchardstown at around 9:30 yesterday morning while another €100,000 was found in a follow up search of houses in Clonsilla and Neilstown.

Two men, one in his 20s and the other in his 40s, were arrested when the cash was found in the cars and are being held at Blanchardstown Garda Station.

A woman in her 30s was arrested following the search of the houses.

She was questioned under the drug trafficking act but has since been released and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
