Gardaí appeal for witnesses to fatal Ballymun shooting

A 49-year-old man is shot in an incident just before 10pm; a car is found burnt out later in the evening.

GARDAÍ HAVE ISSUED a public appeal for witnesses who may have witnessed the getaway to a fatal shooting in Ballymun last night.

The 49-year-old man died after being shot at the St Margaret’s halting site in Ballymun at 9:50pm. He was taken by ambulance to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead later last night.

A car, which is thought to be related to the incident, was found burnt out at Mayeston on St Margaret’s Road later last night. Technical examinations are being carried out on both locations this afternoon.

Gardaí this afternoon said two males connected to the killing may have jumped a fence onto the M50 at the southbound lane on the Finglas exit, between 9:45pm and 10pm last night.
