Two arrested after scissor lift stolen in Cork city overnight

Videos of the incident are circulating online.

LAST UPDATE | 3 Nov

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested after stealing a scissors lift and operating it in Cork city last night.

The two men are detained under the Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in Cork city.

In a statement to The Journal, Gardaí said they responded to an unauthorised taking of a utility vehicle at St Patrick’s Quay around 8:30pm.

Unauthorised taking is the legal term for stealing a vehicle – in this instance a man lift.

Footage circulated online showed that the vehicle traveled from Patrick’s Quay up pedestrianised Oliver Plunkett Street towards the busy street of Grand Parade. Gardaí surrounded the lift on South Gate Bridge, Cork city and arrested the suspects.

Investigations are ongoing.
