Positive results from gold mine test in Monaghan

The metallurgical test undertaken included grinding, crushing and other factors relating to the mill design that would be needed to process the output from the mine.

FIRST RESULTS OF a metallurgical test carried out on a site in Clontibret in Co Monaghan have proven positive , according to  Conroy Gold and Natural resources today.

The gold exploration and development company has said it has plans to develop a gold mine on the site.

The results come from test work being undertaken by specialists Goldfielfs Limited and included grinding, crushing and other factors relating to the mill design that would be required to process the output from the mine.

The abrasion index was lower than anticipated in the test and the ore was harder than expected.

Commenting on the results today company chairman Professor Richard Conroy said this is a “further step in out planned development of a gold mine at Clontibret in Co Monaghan”.

“The test work is continuing and these results on the Comminution studies will be followed by results from the flotation test work,” he said.

The company first announced it had found a “gold target” in Monaghan in October of last year identifying two areas of over 3km in length each.
