Up to seven appliances attended the scene.

FIRE SERVICES SPENT hours last night in their attempts to extinguish large fires on the “Little Sugar Loaf” in Co Wicklow.

Emergency services received upwards of 100 calls in relation to the blaze on the Giltspur Mountain, and spent nearly four hours battling the fire in their attempts to bring it under control.

Up to seven appliances from Bray, Greystones and Wicklow were in attendance from approximately 7.30pm until 11pm, at which time it was determined that there was no danger to property and the fire was left to burn itself out.

It has not yet been determined as to whether the fire was started deliberately.
