'Hacked website' of Syrian First Lady "a hoax"

The website of Asma Assad, Syria’s First Lady, appears to have been hacked, saying “I hate freedom, liberty and justice”. But it is being reported that the site is a fake.

A WEBSITE PURPORTING to be a hacked version of the official website of Asma Assad, the first lady of Syria, is a hoax, it is being claimed.

The site, www.asmaassad.com, says it is the “official website of Syria’s First Lady” and states on its homepage that Assad is “the wife of a vicious war criminal”.

“He thinks he can fool the American public with pleasant interviews,” the site says of Bashar al-Assad, President of Syria.

However, International Business Times UK says the site’s IP address can be traced to Arizona and was set up yesterday, which means it is a hoax.

Asma Assad, who was born in Britain, sent an email to London’s Times earlier this week saying she supports her husband’s role.

The website appears as violence in Syria increases, with the latest bombings taking place in the city of Aleppo.

Twenty eight people have been reported dead in Aleppo today following two car bomb explosions.
