Two charged over home raid that saw mother and daughter (8) tied up by gang

One of the men who carried out the robbery was armed with a nail bar.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested and charged in connection with a home raid in the Howth area of north Co Dublin that occurred in December of 2013.

A woman, aged in her 40s, and her daughter, aged 8, were tied up by the thieves in the course of the robbery, which happened at Casana View.

The two charged, aged 48 and 35, are due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Dublin’s Parkgate Street this morning.

One of the men was arrested in the city centre yesterday evening, and brought for questioning at Raheny Garda Station. The second man was picked up in West Dublin this morning and brought to Clontarf Station.

The aggravated burglary took place at around 9.15am on the morning of Friday 13 December, three years ago. Four men entered the house – two at the front door and two at the rear.

One of the men was armed with a nail bar. They threatened and demanded money from the mother, and later made off with a sum of money in the family car which was found abandoned in Howth Village.

The mother and daughter were uninjured in the incident.

Comments have been closed as the matter is before the courts this morning.
