Dominic West was this evening awarded the Honorary Patronage of the Philosophical Society of Trinity College Dublin.
The actor joins the ranks of Desmond Tutu, Salman Rushdie, Al Pacino, John McCain, John Hume, Newt Gingrich and Bob Geldof, all of whom have received the award from the college society.
West gave a speech in the Graduates’ Memorial Building (GMB) this evening in front of a packed audience.
West, who graduated from Trinity with a degree in English, is most famous for his role as the hard-drinking Jimmy McNulty in acclaimed drama ‘The Wire’.
