The Journal is up against podcasts from The Irish Times, RTÉ, Irish Independent and Second Captains. The All Ireland Podcast Awards

The Journal nominated for two awards in All-Ireland Podcast Awards

The Candidate and The Explainer have both received nominations for the first ever All-Ireland Podcast Awards.

TWO PODCASTS BY The Journal have been shortlisted for the first All-Ireland Podcast Awards.

The Candidate and The Explainer have both received nominations for the Current Affairs and Politics Podcast Award in the 2025 Awards.

This is the first year of the All-Ireland Podcast Awards, which aims to celebrate the best in Irish audio storytelling across seven categories.

The Journal is up against podcasts from a range of other publications, including The Irish Times, RTÉ and Irish Independent.

The Candidate is a weekly podcast which each week delves into the stories that matter most in the world of Irish politics.

The panel of expert journalists – Deputy Editor Christine Bohan, Political Editor Christina Finn, Political Correspondent Jane Matthews, and Assistant News Editor Rónán Duffy - examine the key issues from Leinster House or the topics on the minds of the Irish public.

The Explainer is a weekly podcast that takes a deeper look at a big news story and breaks down the facts behind the story to help listeners gain a deeper understanding, turning complex Irish and international stories into clear, accessible explanations.

The podcast has covered topics ranging from the recent conviction of DJ Carey, what really happened on board the MV Matthew, to the secret formula behind The Traitors.

Podcasts will be judged on their content and impact, audio production, presentation and delivery.

The category The Journal has been nominated for will specifically consider insightful analysis, accuracy of information, and the ability to simplify complex topics.

The All-Ireland Podcast Awards will take place on 13 November.
