THERE ARE HUNDREDS if not thousands of lipstick names out there so it can be hard to come up with a new one.
It’s probably best to steer clear of certain subjects when brainstorming, however.
Sephora has come under fire after shoppers spotted an unusually-named lipstick shade in its Kat Von D make up line: ‘Underage Red’.
When one Twitter user pointed out that the brand already has a shade called ‘Lolita’, another asked if they have “a whole sex offender line”.
Von D took to Twitter to defend the name, saying: “At the end of the day, it’s just a f***ing lipstick.” She has since deleted the tweet and posted this instead:
In 2012, the tattoo artist and reality TV star was criticised for calling a lipstick ‘Celebutard’.
There are conflicting reports about whether Sephora temporarily dropped the entire line or just that one shade. The company did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.
Sephora isn’t the only company that has come under fire for questionable product names. MAC also has lipglosses called ‘Underage’ and ‘Kinky’.
