Elderly pedestrian killed after being struck by a 4x4 in Kilkenny

The woman’s body has been removed from the scene at Graiguenamanagh.

A WOMAN IN her late 70s has died in a road collision in Kilkenny.

She was struck by a vehicle, described by gardaí as a 4×4, at about 10am on the Main Street of Graiguenamanagh.

Her body was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where a full post-mortem exam is taking place.

The road has been closed to allow for forensic tests. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to contact them at the local station on 059-972-5750.

The victim is the 72nd person to die on Irish roads this year, just one fewer than 2013′s fatalities at this time.
