Pedestrian killed in collision with farming vehicle

The 40-year-old was seriously injured in the collision which occurred when the teleporter was loading bales onto a trailer.

GARDAI IN LEITRIM are investigating a fatal road collision that took place at Rantogue, Aughacashel earlier today.

The collision on the Drumshanbo to Aughacashel Road involving a pedestrian and a farming vehicle occurred at approximately 1.05pm.

The 40-year-old male pedestrian was seriously injured and was taken by helicopter to Sligo General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Gardaí said the driver of the vehicle – a teleporter – was uninjured. The collision occurred while the teleporter was loading/unloading bales onto a trailer.

The road is closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.
