VOGUE HAS NAMED the best dressed celebrities of 2025 – and alongside rappers, actresses and fashion models a third his age, Pope Leo XIV gets a nod.
Vogue loves the fact that the new pope is “breaking with the humble tastes of his predecessor, Pope Francis” but also “maintaining the papal legacy for fine-fitting liturgical vestments”.
The fashion bible illustrated its official approval of 70-year-old Leo’s style with photos of him in the aforementioned fine-fitted vestments, including one in which the Chicago-born pontiff has teamed his cassock with a White Sox baseball cap.
As for Leo’s best outfit of 2025, Vogue is in raptures over the “satin mozzetta cape and wine-red, gold-embroidered stole paired with a cross pendant on a gold silk cord” that Leo wore for his first appearance as pope at St Peter’s Basilica.
Vogue also has an interesting fact for us: Leo kept on Francis’s tailor. Who knew?
From Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega (“leading the goth resurgence”) to rapper A$AP Rocky (“dapper menswear”) and designer Miuccia Prada (for “literally being Miuccia Prada”), along with 50 other artists, models, singers and athletes, the Vogue list is a who’s who of a-listers and style influencers – and, yes, it’s quite tongue in cheek.
The Vogue team also praises Leo for inviting screen legends including Monica Bellucci and Cate Blanchett to the Vatican – but they’re late to that party. Leo was already flavour of the month over at Vanity Fair in November, when the entertainment glossy ran a piece on the cinephile pope’s favourite films all time, which include Christmas classic It’s a Wonderful Life.
