Man seriously injured by sofa falling from roof of London hotel

He is in a critical but stable condition.

A PEDESTRIAN SUFFERED serious head injuries after a sofa fell from the roof of a luxury London hotel.

The man in his 20s was walking past the W hotel on Wardour Street, near Leicester Square, just before 9am yesterday when a metal-framed sofa fell 130 feet to the ground.

Met Police says that it is believed the piece of furniture fell from a scaffold.

They say that the man was taken to the Royal Hospital, where he is in a critical but stable condition.

The Sun quotes a W hotel spokesman saying the piece of furniture belonged to one of the private apartments on the top level of the building.

The same paper also quotes a passer-by as saying the man “looked like his face had been ripped off”.

The incident is being investigated.
