WHAT’S THE STORY?
1. The counts go on…and on. We now have 915 councillors elected – so just another 34 to go before the counters can wrap up.
In Europe, Dublin is awaiting an Eamon Ryan-requested recount, while counts in Ireland South and Midlands North West will continue into tomorrow.
Daragh Brophy is keeping us up-to-date on our liveblog, while Nicky Ryan is letting us know who’s been elected here.
Meanwhile, former Green Party leader John Gormley had some advice for Labour.
2. Tragic news broke in Donegal this morning after the body of a 21-year-old man was discovered in the village of St Johnston. He had been out to celebrate a 21st birthday with friends, four of whom have been hospitalised. Gardaí are investigating a possible drugs link.
3. Ireland’s unemployment rate has dropped to 12%, according to the latest figures from the CSO. An extra 42,700 people were employed in the first three months of this year, compared with 2013.
4. AIB has taken on one of Ireland’s most famous businessmen, Tony O’Reilly, pursuing him in the High Court for debts totalling €45 million.

5. The families of the so-called Peru 2 - Melissa Reid and Michaella McCollum Connolly – are worried today as news of their daughters’ transfer to a desert prison emerged today.
