Man arrested and two guns seized in Swords

The arrest was made as part of an operation targeting the activities of a north Dublin criminal gang.

GARDAÍ IN SWORDS have arrested a man after he was discovered carrying two firearms in Dublin last night.

Members of the Organised Crime Unit stopped the man, who is in his 40s, as he was walking in the Applewood area of Swords at about 8pm.

On searching the suspect, they discovered he had two firearms and a quanitity of ammunition in a bag. The firearms and ammunition will now be subject to further examination.

The arrested man is still being detained at Swords Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.
