LAST UPDATE | 2 Apr
A MAN IN his 40s has been arrested in connection with the murder of Robbie Lawlor in 2020.
Lawlor was a suspect in the murder of teenager Keane Mulready Woods, 17, who was killed in January 2020.
Lawlor was shot dead outside a house in north Belfast on 4 April, 2020 – it is believed he was targeted by gunmen who had travelled across the border on the orders of a major Dublin gangland figure.
Sources have said that the arrested man is a major organised crime figure from Dublin and is known by the moniker Mr Big. He has a long history of serious crime and while he has been arrested by gardaí he has never been successfully prosecuted.
Today’s arrest in connection to Lawlor’s murder came as a result of a joint investigation between the PSNI and gardaí.
This afternoon, personnel from the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) arrested a man in his 40s in Dublin on foot of an extradition warrant.
He is currently detained at a Garda station in the Dublin region and will appear before the High Court in Dublin 7 tomorrow.
