Man 'critical' after shooting in Co Clare

The victim, aged in his 20s, was approached by two men and shot a number of times in a hotel car park in the early hours of this morning.

A MAN IS in a “critical” condition after being shot in Bunratty, Co Clare, in the early hours of this morning.

The victim was approached  by two men in a hotel car park shortly before 4am on Sunday and shot “a number of times”, before the attackers escaped in a black-coloured car.

A firearm was recovered near to the scene by investigating gardaí. The area is being preserved pending a full technical and forensic examination and an incident room has been set up at Shannon Garda Station.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Gardai are appealing for information and in particular to anyone who was in the vicinity of the Bunratty Castle Hotel between 3am and 4am this morning to contact them at Shannon Garda Station 061- 365900, or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
