GARDAÍ IN TRAMORE are investigating the circumstances of a crash that claimed the life of a man in Waterford in the early hours of this morning.
The victim was fatally injured after the car in which he was driving caught fire after a collision with an articulated lorry on the N25 at about 2.50am.
There was no passengers in the car and the driver of the lorry has been taken to Waterford Regional Hospital. His injuries are described as minor.
The stretch of road at Ballyshunnock, Kilmacthomas is currently closed for forensic examinations. Local diversions are in place.
The Gardaí advised that the driver’s identity and age have not been positively confirmed yet.
An appeal has been issued for witnesses or anyone who may have travelled on this stretch of road at the time of incident to contact Tramore Garda Station on 051 391 620 or the Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
