Man dies and four others injured in car crash in Cavan

The crash happened in the early hours of Sunday morning. The injuries to four people are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 30-YEAR-OLD man has died following a car crash in Cavan in the early hours of Sunday morning which left four others injured.

Gardaí have launched an investigation into the two vehicle car crash that happened on the Swanlinbar to Ballyconnell Road (N87) at Derrynacreeve Cross in Cavan at around 3.30am this morning.

The man who died was a passenger in the front seat of the car whose four other occupants, two men and two women, were injured. They were all taken to hospital in Enniskillen.

Their conditions are not thought to be life-threatening.

The driver and only occupant of the car they collided with was uninjured.

Gardaí have closed off the road in question pending forensic examination of the scene and local diversions are in place.
