Young man dies following single-vehicle crash in Co Galway

Three other people have been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A MAN HAS died following a single-vehicle crash in Co Galway. 

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the crash on the N65 at Moyleen at around 2.20am this morning.

A passenger in the vehicle, an adult male in his late teens, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the mortuary at Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe.

The coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The driver and two other passengers were brought by ambulance to University Hospital Galway with non-life-threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed to allow for an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them.

They are particularly appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N65 Loughrea to Ballinasloe road at Moyleen between 2am and 2.30am to make this footage available to them.
