Man for court over garda station arson attack

A 25-year-old was charged yesterday after a “flaming object” was thrown in the Castlebar station’s public office.

A 25-YEAR-OLD man will appear in court this morning charged with an arson attack on a Mayo garda station early yesterday morning.

Just after 4am yesterday, a man walked into the public office of Castlebar Garda Station before throwing what gardaí called a “flaming object” at the counter.

Nobody was injured in the attack, although two gardaí were on duty in the station at the time. A man was arrested a short distance away and was charged in relation to the attack yesterday.

He will appear in Galway District Court this morning at 10.30am.
