Man held by gardaí after serious assault in Thurles

A 22-year-old man was left in critical condition after an assault in the early hours of Sunday morning in Tipperary.

GARDAI ARE CONTINUING to question a man in relation to a serious assault in Thurles in Tipperary in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 25-year-old man was left in a critical condition after the attack at Liberty Square in Thurles at around 1.30am on Sunday.

A 22-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident is being detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Thurles Garda Station.

Gardaí have asked  for witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have been in the area around Liberty Square between 1am and 2am on Sunday morning to contact them at Thurles Garda station on 0504  25100, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
