Man killed in Longford road crash

Three people have been killed on Irish roads this weekend.

A 39-YEAR-OLD man has died following a crash in Longford this morning.

Gardaí in Granard are appealing for witnesses to the single car collision which occurred between 3am and 6am at Granardkill.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigating Gardaí said the car hit a tree after veering off road.

The road has been reopened following forensic examinations.

This is the third road death this weekend. An 83-year-old man died in Fermoy in County Cork yesterday afternoon, while a  76-year-old man was killed in a crash at Rosslare Harbour on Saturday morning.
