PSNI OFFICERS IN Cookstown are appealing for witnesses to an assault in the town yesterday.
At around 4.35pm police were called by paramedics to a report of a 34-year-old male having a fit in Orritor Street.
It’s understood the male, who was the driver of a silver Vauxhall Vectra, had been involved in a verbal altercation with the driver of a black Audi A4 in Coagh Street.
Both drivers then exited their vehicles in Orritor Street and the driver of the Audi is believed to have punched the victim causing him to lose consciousness and subsequently fit.
The alleged assailant, who had left the scene prior to the arrival of the emergency services, is described as around 6′ 1″ tall, well built with short, dark flat hair. He was wearing hi-vis trousers and a black fleece.
The Audi is believed to have a possible partial registration of KHZ
Police are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone who can help identify the Audi driver.
The investigating officer, Constable Cunningham, can be contacted at Cookstown police station via the non-emergency number 101.
