Who should win this year’s Mercury Prize?

While many Irish acts have been nominated, none have managed to take home the prize.

THE SHORTLIST FOR this year’s Mercury Prize has been revealed – and two Irish acts have made the cut.

CMAT is nominated for her album EURO-COUNTRY, which is currently sitting at number one in the Irish album chart. It’s the second year running for the Dunboyne singer, following last year’s nomination for Crazymad, for Me.

She is joined on the shortlist by Fontaines D.C. – who have been nominated for their album Romance.

Other acts in the running include Pulp, Sam Fender and Wolf Alice.

Despite frequent nominations, an Irish act has never won the prestigious award.

So, if you were on the judging panel – who would get your vote for this year’s Mercury Prize?
