TWO MEN HAVE been arrested for allegedly facilitating money laundering on behalf of an organised crime group after gardaí recovered hundreds of thousands of euro in Co Louth and Co Dublin.

Up to £185,000 (approximately €213,000) and €48,700 in cash were recovered by gardaí.

The money was discovered by members of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) during searches of two homes and one business premises.

The men, both in their 20s, were arrested under 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006.

They are currently being held at a Dublin Garda Station under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

Gardaí also intercepted a vehicle on Saturday shortly before 9pm in North County Dublin as part of their investigations into organised crime.

A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
