Murder inquiry launched after assault in Co Down

A 30-year-old man has been arrested and is being questioned by police.

A MURDER INQUIRY has been launched by police in Northern Ireland following the death of a man in Ballynahinch, Co Down.

The PSNI said a serious assault occurred in the Dromore Street area in the early hours of this morning and the man was taken to hospital where he later died.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being questioned by police.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information has been asked to contact Downpatrick CID on 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers.
