LAW ENFORCEMENT agencies in the United States have named the 27 victims of Friday’s school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut.
The 27 were killed when Adam Lanza, 20, entered the Sandy Hook elementary school with a semiautomatic rifle and opened fire.
Connecticut’s chief medical examiner H Wayne Carver said each victim had been struck more than one, and in some cases had been hit up to 11 times.
“This is a very devastating set of injuries,” the New York Times quotes him as saying, adding that the victims had been wounded “all over, all over”.
President Obama is due to visit the town this evening to speak at an interfaith vigil and to meet the victims’ families.
