A FRENCH POLITICIAN has attracted attention – mostly supportive – throughout the world this evening, after losing her cool on US network CNN earlier today.
Nathalie Goulet, a centrist Senator for the Orne department, was discussing Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the suspected architect of last Friday’s attacks in Paris, which killed 129 people.
Renowned journalist Christiane Amanpour asked her:
As we showed those pictures of Abaaoud, who is the most wanted man in the world right now, what is your gut feeling when you see his face?
Goulet, speaking in English, paused for a moment, before responding:
I think, ‘fucking bastard’ is appropriate…
We are so angry and sad…You know, they’re not human. It’s terrible.
The Senator later apologised for her language on Twitter, but has been met with overwhelming support for her description of Abaaoud.
One of her constituents added that she was “proud to be represented by you.”
Another French commenter said her words were “perfectly chosen.”
