Getting a train over the Bank Holiday? There's some disruptions - here's what you need to know
A limited replacement bus service is operating for some northern commuter areas.
THERE ARE NO northside trains running in Dublin from today for the Bank Holiday weekend as major works are being carried out on the line.
It’s one of a number of temporary changes to Iarnród Éireann’s schedule between now and the end of Monday.
There are no Dart services between Connolly and Howth/Malahide and no Commuter services running between Dublin and Drogheda.
Dublin Bus and GoAhead are accepting rail tickets to and from areas affected.
For northern commuters, a limited bus service is operating between Connolly station and Donabate, Balbriggan, Drogheda and service between Rush & Lusk, Skerries and Connolly.
In Galway, due to works taking place as part of the Ceannt station redevelopment, bus transfers are in place between Galway and Athenry.
All Galway/Dublin, Galway/Limerick and Galway/Athlone services are operating on a revised timetable.
A revised timetable is in place across all other routes across the country.
Irish Rail are advising customers to check their website for full details on all services and to book intercity travel in advance.
The major works include overhead line renewal, track and crossover renewal, bridge works, vegetation management and enabling works for battery-electric infrastructure.
Additional services
Irish Rail are also running extra services for several events happening today and tomorrow.
This evening, extra trains will run before and after Leinster face Zebre in the Aviva stadium for their United Rugby Championship clash at 5:30pm.
Two extra early services from Maynooth to Pearse and Greystones to Connolly will run tomorrow for the Dublin Marathon.
And there’ll also be some extra trains in Cork for the Cork Jazz Festival across today and tomorrow.
Last month, southside customers faced similar disruption to what the northside is experiencing this weekend when Dart services were suspended between Grand Canal Dock and Greystones and the Luas Red Line was partially closed.
Back in June, the line between Connolly and Dun Laoghaire also closed for works over the Bank Holiday weekend.
