AN ELDERLY WOMAN in England fought off a mugger early this morning by giving him a good old fashioned punch in the face.
The woman in her 80s was walking her dog in an alleyway in the Whitstable area of Kent at 7.20am when she was allegedly approached by a man who grabbed her. The woman fought him off and it is believed she may have punched him in the mouth.
The suspect was said to be dressed in black with a hoody tied up to his mouth and nose. It is thought he may have grey hair.
Speaking about the incident today, Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fotheringham said it appears the suspect “picked on this wrong person in this instance and she was able to bravely fight him off”.
“I would like to hear from anyone who has information in relation to this incident,” he said. “Do you know anyone who may have been out when the assault occurred and returned home with a facial injury? If anyone can help with this investigation, please call Kent Police.”
