ORLA COMERFORD HAS won gold again for Team Ireland at the World Para Athletics Championships in India.

Comerford has become a double world champion in New Delhi, winning the 200m T13 final in a time of 24:71 seconds.

On Sunday, Comerford clocked a championship record time of 11.88 seconds in the 100m T13 final, following on from Greta Streimikyte claiming first place in the women’s 1500m T13.

Today Comerford once again edged out Brazilian sprinter Da Silva, who broke the world record in both the 100m and 200m this year, to claim the top spot.

Speaking after the race Comerford said: “The goal for me here was to try and win that 100 for me the 200 was the cherry on top.

“After Monday night I was just like it’s there, I feel good I feel strong and I think as well the Brazilian broke the world record in both the 100 and the 200 in the summer so I knew that coming out and beating her in the 100 would put down a mark. I wanted to put my stamp on that (100m) and show that I’m here to contend.”
