The Irish public increasingly aware of the importance of mental health – but the role that alcohol plays in psychological problems remains taboo to many, says Katie Varvos.

THE STIGMA SURROUNDING mental health issues is fading in Ireland as more and more people talk candidly about their experiences.

However, while the public is increasingly aware of the importance of psychological well-being, the link that alcohol has to poor mental health remains controversial… why is this?
