One hurt after raiders armed with a knife rob service station in Waterford

Two people have been arrested in connection with the robbery.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been arrested after raiders armed with a knife robbed cash from a service station in Waterford.

The robbery happened at around 7.15pm on Park Road when two men entered the service station and threatened staff and customers with a knife.

One male customer was injured during the incident and was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital. His injuries are described as not life-threatening.

The two raiders escaped the scene on foot with an undisclosed sum of cash.

However shortly afterwards gardaí carried out a follow-up search of an apartment in Waterford city centre and arrested two men in their 20s. A sum of cash was recovered at the flat.

The two men are being held at Tramore Garda Station for questioning.

Gardaí have asked any witnesses to the robbery or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at around 7pm onwards to contact Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
