Samsung may be ditching the plastic for good for its next big phone
And it’s going to have a curved screen and all.
SAMSUNG HAS BEEN known for designing phones that use a plastic build, although the criticism of the Galaxy S5 and weak smartphone sales meant it’s had to change that strategy somewhat.
Now the latest teaser trailer for its next phone, likely to be called the Galaxy S6 suggests that “metals will flow” and “borders will disappear,” hinting heavily towards an all metal design for its latest flagship device.
The company has been experimenting with metal design, first with the launch of the Galaxy Alpha and then with the announcement of the A5 and A7. Increased competition between it and cheaper, high-quality handsets from China and other countries has meant that Samsung’s smartphone design is embracing premium materials and better design.
As well as a metal design, the Galaxy S6 is expected to have a curved screen, similar to the Galaxy Note Edge, also confirmed by a teaser shot from the US telecoms provider T-Mobile entitled ‘six appeal’.
The company will unveil the latest addition to its flagship range at its press event in Barcelona on 1st March. It will take place the day before Mobile World Congress begins in the city from the 2nd – 6th March.
