BREAKING: Police in Lucerne said that several people have been killed and more are injured at the Kronospan site.

THREE PEOPLE DIED during a shooting at a factory in Switzerland this morning, authorities have confirmed.

A further seven people were seriously injured at the Kronospan site.

The shooting occurred just after 9am local time today.

A telephone helpline has been set up for those affected by the “major event” at the wood panel factory in Menznau. The site has now been sealed off.

A statement from Lucerne police confirmed that three people, including the suspected shooter, died.

The alleged gunman was 42-years-old and an employee at the site. It is understood the shooting happened in a corridor of the cafeteria.

There are unconfirmed reports that staff were told about factory cuts earlier today.
