SIPTU Dublin Bus drivers vote in favour of strike action
A ballot today saw 94 per cent of drivers vote in favour of striking if the company pushes forward with plans to change employment terms.
SIPTU DRIVERS IN Dublin Bus have voted by an overwhelming majority for strike action in a ballot counted this afternoon in Liberty Hall.
The ballot saw 94 per cent of SIPTU drivers vote in favour of strike action if the company attempts to implement changes to employment terms and conditions, recommended by the Labour Court without agreement. SIPTU represents approximately 1,200 drivers in Dublin Bus.
Speaking today, SIPTU Organiser, John Murphy, said the union has been given “an overwhelming mandate by our members in this ballot for strike action if the company attempts to change terms and conditions”.
He added that the workers’ representatives are still available to meet management “to engage in constructive negotiations on all outstanding issues”.
“The ball is firmly in the company’s court and we await its response,” he said.
