AFTER ALMOST A decade, the end is nigh for Stranger Things, one of Netflix’s most-watched shows ever. 

Fans are counting down the days for the last episode ever of the sci-fi hit which will air at 1am Irish time on New Year’s Day. 

Season 5 of the show has been released in three volumes, with the final volume consisting of a single 2-hour and 8-minute episode titled: ‘The Rightside Up’.

The Duffer Brothers (the show’s creators) and the cast have kept their cards tight to their chest about how things are going to be wrapped up, but Matt Duffer did give some hints about what we can expect.

Speaking to RadioTimes.com, he said there’s a “sense of inevitability” about the ending, and that endings don’t work when shows are “trying too hard to surprise fans” or “do something different”.

“So we want it to feel very much in line with the show and the endings for each of the characters to feel inevitable. That’s what we’re striving for,” Matt said.

There is so much left to be tied up — Will Steve and Dustin survive? Will El defeat Vecna? Can Kali be trusted?

Please, Duffer Bros, please do not pull a Game of Thrones!
