‘Biggest and brightest’ Supermoon of the year to be visible until tomorrow evening

While the Moon was technically ‘full’ earlier this afternoon, it will look ‘full’ to the naked eye until tomorrow evening.

THE BIGGEST AND brightest Supermoon of the year is visible tonight and will remain visible until tomorrow evening.

The November full Moon, also known as the Beaver Moon, is the second Supermoon of 2025.

A Supermoon is a full Moon that looks bigger and brighter because its orbit brings it close to the Earth.

This can lead to the Full Moon being 30% brighter than the faintest moon of the year.

Each month’s full moon has a different name and the November full moon’s name, Beaver Moon, is said to come from the fact that beavers start to take shelter in their dams around this time of year.

The first Supermoon this year was the Harvest Moon, which occurred last month, and there will be a third and final Supermoon of 2025 in December.

The Moon was technically “full” this Wednesday afternoon at 1:19pm.

However, the Moon looks “full” to the naked eye a day or two either side of this time.

That means there is still time to catch it tonight and tomorrow evening, provided there is a clear sky.

Dave Moore, of Astronomy Ireland Magazine, remarked that this will be the “brightest and biggest Full Moon people across Ireland will see in their lifetimes”.

He’s asked the public to line up the Moon with interesting objects or landscapes in the foreground and send their best snap to be published in Astronomy Ireland magazine, which will be archived in the National Library of Ireland.

“As it is rising and lowering, people can line up the Supermoon with statues, landmarks, buildings, aircraft, birds, landscapes, mountains, standing stones, ships and seascapes and more to produce stunning photographs which we would be delighted to feature,” said Moore.

Here’s some images of how the Beaver Moon has looked across the world:
