A massive Christmas morning brawl between 100 people had to be broken up by helicopter

So far, four people have been arrested.

POLICE IN ENGLAND are seeking witnesses and mobile phone footage of a massive brawl involving up to 100 people overnight.

The incident happened on Chertsey Road in Surrey at about 3am and coins were thrown at police as they were attempting to restore order.

So far, four people have been arrested on suspicion of public order offences with police saying that those fighting were likely out socialising on Christmas Eve.

“Christmas Eve is a popular night for people to go out and socialise and the majority of party-goers have a good time and enjoy themselves. However, festivities soured during this unpleasant event which involved a large group of people fighting in the street,” according to Superintendent Clinton Blackburn of Surrey Police.

Officers quickly took a grip of the situation and worked hard to bring it under control effectively and safely, under challenging circumstances which included having coins thrown at them, and by 4am the area had returned to normal.

A number of taxi drivers also reported being intimidated in the prolonged fracas.

Police say that as well as witnesses to the brawl they will also be examining CCTV footage and want people with mobile phone footage to come forward as they attempt to identify everyone who was involved.

A police helicopter and a number of police dog units were also used to disperse the crowd.
