A “SUSPECT DEVICE” has been removed from the Royal Canal at Newcomen Bridge in Dublin.
Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of the device in Dublin 3 at around 12:30pm this afternoon, a spokesperson said.
“A cordon was established and the Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended the scene,” they said.
The team removed the suspect device and the area has declared safe.
The cordon that was put in place has now been lifted.
