GARDAÍ IN TALLAGHT have arrested two men after a chipper was robbed with a chainsaw.

The robbery occurred at a fast food outlet at Old Bawn Shopping centre, Tallaght early this morning.

Two men entered the takeaway at around 12.20am. One was armed with a chainsaw, which was on. They threatened staff and ripped the till from the counter, leaving the scene in the direction of Bohernabreena Road.

Gardaí from Tallaght and Rathfarnam responded and carried out a search of the immediate area .

Two men aged 40 and 23 were arrested and were taken to Tallaght Garda station where they are being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended. The cash register and a sum of cash were recovered.
