GOTHIC ROCKERS THE Cure and the ethereal Sigur Rós are set to headline this year’s Electric Picnic festival in Stradbally in Laois.
Elbow, Orbital, The Roots, Hot Chip, Ed Sheeran, and The xx will also play the boutique festival, organisers have announced this afternoon.
Other acts playing include Grizzly Bear, Christy Moore, Glen Hansard, Metronomy, The Horrors, Bell X1, Azealia Banks and Roots Manuva.
Festival organisers have said the festival, which also features comedy and spoken word tents and has been running for the last eight years, will be a way to face down the current doom and gloom.
The Cure will play a set drawn from all 14 of their studio albums in what will be their first appearance at Electric Picnic. Sigur Rós first played the festival in 2008 when they headlined the main stage.
More acts will be announced over the coming weeks. The festival takes place in Stradbally Hall in Laois from 31 August to 2 September.
Tickets will go on sale this Friday at 9am from Ticketmaster and usual outlet and will cost €230 for weekend tickets. Sunday day tickets will cost €99.50 and family camping tickets will cost €230 per adult with two children under twelve permitted per adult.
